This necklace is made from an antique Dollar Watch movement. During the late 1890’s to about the 1950’s, companies started to make watches that were cheaper to produce and had less features. A dollar in 1892 is equivalent to about $27 today. In that time period though, when watches were seen as a luxury item, these watches were sold in cardboard boxes and made with almost no extra mechanics to keep the cost down. A larger than normal spring case was attached to the side and a metal dragonfly is attached to the top. This hangs from a stainless steel chain.
